Riders put to the test through busy summer for Holeshot PR
The end of lockdown restrictions signalled the start of the busiest period yet for Holeshot PR as our specialist motorcycle and automotive communications agency generated a wide range of assets and services for our portfolio of clients.
Briefed to promote Kawasaki UK’s Rider Training Services, Holeshot PR jumped on the opportunity to challenge one of the UK’s most talented young racers, Rory Skinner, to take his CBT. The Scottish rider enthusiastically agreed, successfully completing the course just ahead of his local British Superbike round at Knockhill in July. Rory then rode his brand-new Kawasaki Ninja 125 into the circuit, through the paddock and into the FS-3 Racing pitbox, jumping straight on to his Ninja ZX-10RR Superbike! The stunt was filmed by Eurosport and subsequently aired on Quest, Eurosport and across the popular Bennetts British Superbike social media channels. To complete the perfect story, Rory immediately claimed his maiden Superbike podiums before returning to work as a mechanic on the Monday, keenly followed by the UK’s biggest two-wheel title Motorcycle News.
Holeshot PR also put Bike World presenter Sophie McGinn through her full motorcycle test on her Z650, creating one of the TV programme’s most popular ever features. Among other ‘green’ activities, Holeshot PR supported the local launch of the new Kawasaki ZX-10R and the transition of the renowned California Superbike School to Ninja power.
Although summer is only just coming to an end, Kawasaki are already looking ahead to 2022, with Holeshot PR assisting in unveiling some of the new models and ‘carry over’ machines in recent weeks.
Recently-launched Segway Powersports retained Holeshot PR to promote its line of ‘big boys toys’ for the leisure and agricultural market, so at the first opportunity the agency’s team set off for Devon to create media and social content. An all-day photo and video shoot in the forest produced plenty of mud-splattered content and allowed a specialist quad tester to compile a feature for the ATV section in its key ‘agri’ target title, Farmers Weekly.
The Covid-restriction dodging, compressed schedule of the British Superbike Championship certainly gave additional challenges to the organisers, race teams and paddock suppliers, with eleven rounds packed from late June to October. For Holeshot, this meant staying in front of deadlines for programme creatives, press releases and video features. With long-standing client Pirelli introducing a new ‘Super Soft’ tyre into the series, the agency, which is located close to Brands Hatch, ensured that commentors and media understood the characteristics of this stickier ‘Slick’ rubber.
This season extra attention has been given to the warriors of the ‘Pirelli Superstock’ classes; giving these often lesser-supported riders additional publicity with editorial and weekly video and social media pieces.
As electric motorcycle manufacturer, Super Soco, hit the landmark figure of 1,000 unit sales in a single year, Holeshot maximised opportunities to introduce new and potential riders to this cost-effective, environmentally-friendly urban transport. Alongside an extensive dealer support campaign to encourage regional media coverage, the agency also enlisted the Press Association’s motoring correspondent to complete his CBT. The journalist successfully passed the course on board the best-selling Super Soco CPx, followed by a two-week “real world” road test. The resulting feature was picked up by Yahoo! , as well as by various regional titles.
With Carl Cox finally being able to travel back to the UK after a long Australian lockdown, the enigmatic DJ/producer certainly made the most of his freedom with a packed gig schedule, autobiography launch and book signing tour. Amongst all this, petrolhead Carl also managed to ride around his beloved Isle of Man, take part in track days at Brands Hatch, visit Goodwood Revival and Santa Pod and be unveiled as MV Agusta’s Global Ambassador! As the creators of Carl’s ‘Motorsport’ web and socials, HSPR kept up with his whirlwind schedule and even presented him with an aluminium print of his favourite supported rider, Michael Dunlop.
With the sale of long-standing dealership Colin Appleyard Motorcycles, Holeshot was retained by the ‘Car’ side of the business, giving the agency a challenge to maximise the web, blogs and social content for this five-site Suzuki, Nissan and Subaru group.
Holeshot also supported the 85th Anniversary of Devitt Insurance Services (and victory for its Flat Track racing team), created a Goodwood video for Öhlins suspension, product feature videos for R&G and a new brand direction for Datatag. The agency is now planning client activities for Motorcycle Live, both physical and online, as the industry welcomes crowds back into exhibition spaces.
